Is coming to church important for our children as much as it is for ourselves? Is it important for our children to have a relationship with God? I know that these questions probably seem rhetorical. I am sure that most of you answered yes.
Studies show that children that attend Christian schools are more likely to remain in the church and have a relationship with God than those that do not.
In Deuteronomy 6:7 (NIV), the Word of God commands parents to teach Godly principles to their children “Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up." Simply stated, we are constantly, consistently to train our children in what is right, wherever we are and in whatever we are doing. In other words, every Christian family should have the conviction of giving their children a Christian education.
In the mid 70’s to early 80’s, eight parents made financial sacrifices so that one day their children would:
1. Someday accept God as their personal savior,
2. Remain in the church
3. Be in Heaven for a joyous family reunion
On May of 1982, when I graduated from EPAJA, seven other students participated in graduating ceremonies that year. Today, the sacrifice that those eight parents made has produced fruit, because each one of those eight students still has a relationship with God today.
I can tell you first hand, that many parents that chose not to send their children to a Christian school, (some of my friends at church) many of those children are not in church today.
God has given many us a privilege and responsibility, which is to be entrusted with the life of a child! May the Lord continue to guide us and give us wisdom to do what is best for our children.
Sincerely,
